Why I Switched from Fujifilm to Nikon Z
After years of shooting with Fujifilm’s mirrorless system, making the jump to Nikon’s Z series wasn’t a decision I took lightly. Fujifilm cameras are beautiful tools with incredible color science and a nostalgic shooting experience I truly loved. But as my photography style evolved and my client work became more demanding, I found myself needing a system that offered more flexibility, speed, and depth — and that’s where Nikon Z came in.
What I Gained with Nikon Z
The Nikon Z system immediately impressed me with its low-light performance, lightning-fast autofocus, and full-frame image quality. The dynamic range, especially in challenging lighting situations, gave me more freedom to shoot confidently without worrying about losing detail. Pair that with the sharpness and clarity of Nikon’s Z lenses, and I knew I had found the right fit for the way I work now.
What I Miss About Fujifilm
I’d be lying if I said there weren’t things I miss about Fujifilm. The tactile dials, the compact size, and the straight-out-of-camera colors had a charm that’s hard to beat. For travel or personal work, Fuji still holds a soft spot in my heart. But for professional sessions where speed, precision, and output matter most, Nikon Z has proven to be the more powerful tool for the job.
